Back home whenever he loved something he'd shower them with gifts. It was easy to do when you were worth multiple billions. Here it was harder to give gifts. He either had to make it from flour and eggs or scraps of metal he found laying around. The last option, which was the one he was known for doing the most was buying them with his team points. Of course he couldn't just give this gift straight from train store to child, he had to add some kind of personalized touch. So with Ignis' help and a spare pillow case, the mascot bear now had a small white skirt to go along with her red hoodie.
Now to find Madoka. He didn't have her routine memorized like he did Peter's and Ignis' but there was only so many place on the train to be, so before long, he found his daughter and as soon as he spotted her, he smiled. In his hand was a pillowcase with obviously something stuffed inside.
Tony will find Madoka in a rare moment of not trying to do way more chores than she's actually assigned to do. Instead the girl has made herself comfortable in a corner of the dining car, despite it not being anywhere near dinnertime yet. Maybe she just picked the place since it's kind of quiet at the moment, judging by the fact that it seems like she's reading the book about meditating that Raven had let her borrow.
The quiet also makes it really obvious to hear though when someone is entering the car, so when Madoka hears that sound she carefully peeks out over the edge of the book.. and said book is abandoned only a moment later when she notices who entered. Madoka hops off the bench immediately, running over to him to near-tackle him with a hug.
"Dad..! Hi!"
Did he come here looking for her? It's not like Madoka can be sure, but the thought itself makes her smile right up at Tony as she pulls away a moment later. Her eye falls on the pillowcase.
He felt bad he hadn't come up to the dining car with something for her to eat or drink. Still, anything remotely negative in his thoughts evaporated when she looked at him like the sun. The way she came running to hug him made him feel like Zeus and Jupiter combined. He laughed at her exuberance and pressed a kiss to the top of her head and hugged her back.
"Hey, sweetie. Yes, I was looking for my favorite girl and I think I found her. What are you doing?" He asked, glancing over at that meditation book. Really? Madoka and meditation? Somehow those two things just didn't mix in his mind. It was like trying to combine a Taize service with Barney the dinosaur and fireworks. Mady was so full of life and bubbly.
She definitely can't help but blush a little when he says that thing about his favorite girl, although it seems to be a happy kind of blush. A moment later she's already picking the book back up to show it off to him when she notices Tony looking at it.
"I was reading." The cover says Meditation for Beginners. "I got this from Raven.. Or, um, I'm borrowing it from her. She said it could be helpful, so I'm trying really hard to learn!"
Even though it's definitely true that Madoka and meditation don't exactly go hand in hand, like he's thinking..
"You know she has those powers where she can feel what other people are feeling, right? And we share a room, so I really want to try and freak out a bit less, so she won't have to feel that either." (Sure, Raven's angle had been more about helping Madoka for Madoka's own sake, but of course Madoka is going to turn it around into this..)
He knew Madoka was a whole lot older than Morgan, but when the young girl when and got her book to show him it reminded him of when his daughter- other daughter- used to do that. She'd take every last book off the shelf and enthusiastically bury him alive in a pile of books. This time Mady was only bringing him one, but it was a nice memory nonetheless.
"Ah, so you're trying to help Raven out. That's very kind of you." He smirks at how that had been phrased. Yes, he knows you Mady. This had been for your health and not for Raven's, but he'd go along with however she wanted to angle it. "Do you feel like you freak out a lot?" He asked. He took the book and turned it over in his hands, curious about it. He was more interested in hearing Mady tell him about it but that went without saying.
Ignis had spoken to Madoka about training with a bow. It wasn't his thing but if she saw herself in a dream with one then he would do everything in his power to obtain one. Ash was the only one he knew that wielded bows, Sarai might be a possibility as well but that was an option he'd have to check on.
Moving towards the training room he'd invited Tony to accompany or join him here, but so far he was here by himself. Both would be along shortly and he had to teach her first aid. He couldn't pass the king's magic onto her either, but he could help her make the potions and Ignis might be able to make them more effective and give them to her.
It indeed doesn't take too long for Madoka to show up. She's not the type to want to keep anyone waiting for too long, after all. Going to the training room makes her a little nervous since it's not like she spends a whole lot of time there - certainly not as much as a lot of other people on the train, anyway - but it's only a little bit. There's not much to be nervous about when you consider her current company, after all.
Tony had no idea why Ignis had dubbed the gym the 'training room' but whatever. Papa could get away with a lot of things being as cute as he was. He was already smirking at that idea as he came into the room.
Seeing Madoka, he ruffled her hair as he passed. "Hey Kitten." Then he continued to Ignis and caught his chin with his thumb and planted a brief kiss to his lips. "Hey Tiger." Letting go, he added, "So your in charge of this, let me know what I can do to help."
"Well hello darling." Ignis smiled at Madoka. She always had that effect on him but he certainly wasn't going to complain. His daughter was important and she would be reminded of this often.
He had everything laid out for her in neat rows and was going to show her the easiest and quickest way to get this accomplished, especially if they were on a mission and one needed to be cobbled together quickly.
Ignis had to smile as Madoka was called kitten by Tony. Fitting, but he'd read tiger babies were called cubs. It was just as well at any rate. He melted into his knight's kiss and inwardly smiled at being called by his nickname.
Aww, papa and dad are the absolute cutest. Yes, Madoka really can't help but think that as she sees them kiss and smile at each other. It's just nice to see them so happy, okay. Especially when Ignis tends to be all serious.
She seems to have readily accepted her new nickname too, since there's no protest or even confusion, only a giggle followed by a: "Hi, dad!"
.. okay, so maybe Madoka is just excited in general to be with both her fathers and learning something useful. What's there not to like? She's practically bouncing on her feet here. "Yeah, papa! I promise I'll do my best!"
There was a lot of sorrow in this approach, but Ignis had to keep himself together. There wasn't much he could do about one situation, however he could follow some 'advice' he got from a dream of a female black cat. He'd never seen the cat before nor did he know of it from back home. But when he inquired as to who She was, he mentally received a name he'd never heard of before.
But the advice was the only thing he could focus on and so he did. Finding Madoka coming out of the kitchen he turned around to face her. "Can you spare a moment?" It was so hard to look her in the face and make sure no tears rolled down but he just kept the advice of the cat in mind.
He was going to do this. The advisor had gotten knocked down before and gotten back up, he could do it again. And if he got his hands on a kitten, he was going to name the little one in that Lady's honour.
For a moment she seems surprised, but when she looks at him, the girl's expression slowly fades into something more closely resembling a small smile.
"Of course." To be fair, Madoka could always spare a moment for anyone. It's just how she is. But since this is Ignis, the answer comes even more easily. She'd drop anything in an instant if he asked. "Do you need something, papa..?"
He immediately knelt down to her side and kept the smile on. "It's not for me actually but it's a favour for your Uncle Noct. It's an item from home but I find that I don't have the points to procure it. If it's no trouble I would request you get it for him." Ignis of course was willing to pay her back however she wanted but he was trying to get this thing for the king.
The advisor really didn't want to get into details or anything regarding it but the key points were there. It was an item from home and it was for Noctis. If it was for himself, he would continue to wait and suffer. But Carbuncle was important for the king and easing of his nightmares.
Honestly, it doesn't even mind that he's not giving her any details. It's not like Madoka needs them. Especially since with Ignis leaving said details out, she figures it's probably something really personal or really secret.. and she wouldn't want to be rude and dig into that!
Her smile grows a little wider, if not just to reassure him that it's fine.
"Of course that's no trouble. I should have enough points for it." And it's not like Madoka would dare ever spend those on herself to begin with.. "I talked to him already and he seemed really sweet, so I'm glad if I can help. Should we go get it now, papa..?"
He waited for questions and he had some answers ready but none came. So it was now up to him to get this thing going since nothing was forthcoming. Madoka's smile is reassuring and he nodded.
Apparently their meeting had gone well which gave Ignis hope that the pair would have a close relationship. "Alright, then let's get this order placed so that he can have an old friend return."
They walked over to the shop and set about getting carbuncle ordered for Noct.
Madoka knows she should be sleeping right now. Usually she's really good about that! Even when no one tells her to go to bed on time, she still makes sure to do it out of sheer politeness and force of habit. She has to make sure to get enough sleep after all with all the strange things that happen on the train.
But tonight she's having some real difficulty sleeping. Thankfully not for a bad reason though.. no, she's just that excited about the cute kitty sleeping right there next to her. The poor thing had seemed so weak, and of course Madoka was more than happy to take care of him. She's made sure to make an extra comfy spot for him on her bed by using some of her spare clothes bunched up to a comfy pile as his own little kitty bed. But she can't seem to fall asleep herself. Instead she just keeps watching him as he's sleeping there, so cutely and peacefully..
After a few moments of doing just that though, Madoka's giddiness grows too strong to just lie there and watch him. Although she's making sure to be quiet so she won't wake up any of her roommates, she's sat up on her bed and grabbed some things to make a collar with for the adorable thing. He needs to look cute, after all! For a moment she ponders what kind of decoration to use for it, but then she remembers the shells that were still in her pockets when they were pulled back from that last mission. She carefully looks through them to find the one that looks the nicest and puts it on the collar, smiling at it as she holds it up and admires the finished result.
She moves back over to where the cat is sleeping, reaching out to - very gently and carefully, she doesn't want to disturb his adorable sleep! - put the collar on him.
"Ah.. So cute.."
Madoka is making sure to keep her voice hushed, but there's no way she can't speak out loud. It just looks that cute. She can't stop smiling.
"I wonder if you have a name..? You kind of seem like a stray, so maybe not, huh.." That's too sad though! No adorable kitty should go nameless! A hand reaches out to gently stroke the cat's head. "How about I give you a cute name, huh, kitty..? I'll call you Maru."
It had been rough. Being torn from his Eve was bad. It had never happened before, Kuro had never had one before Mahiru so it was a new experience. Lawless had always taken it in stride, but since he was a psychopath and used to killing his Eve's it made sense. He was used to it. Kuro was not. It had hurt. The loss had weakened him. Weakened him enough that he hadn't protested when the man had picked him up. Hadn't said much of anything when he was given to a girl as a pet. It was almost a relief. They could pretend he was just a cat. Then he wouldn't have to think. He wouldn't have to hurt on his own. He would have someone who would look after him like Mahiru had. Though he had been an animal abuser at times, hitting him with brooms... This girl seemed to be nice. She spoke to him so kindly. Gave him pets upon his head. Even made him a bed to sleep in.
He'd decided then, at some point, to speak. To ask for food. She hadn't seemed surprised and had gotten him a little something which he was grateful for.
And then Kuro had slept. He had slept because he thought it was safe to do so. He had let his guard down because the girl, Madoka, had seemed sweet and innocent and kind. What could possibly go wrong?
The collar slipping about his neck was the start. Kuro (as that was the name Mahiru had given him) slowly opened his eyes when he realised there was a weight around his neck. Then fingers on his head. His ears twitched. He heard the words, asking about a name. His eyes opened more.
"Don...!" He was too late. The word left the strange little black kitties lips just as Madoka spoke a name. Maru.
No longer Kuro. His name was Maru.
And just like that the kitty vanished and in it's place, crouched on the bed beside Madoka, was a teenaged boy with pale blue hair and sleepy red eyes, he wore the clothes all new people to the Voidtrecker wore. But also the collar around his neck. A bright, neon blue light spiraled around him, centring around his neck and shot out to Madoka's right wrist, spinning around both, getting tighter and tighter until with a shower of blue sparkles they vanished. The room was dark again.
"... This is so bothersome I could die..." Maru said with an unhappy groan.
Maybe Madoka should have known better than to accept random odd weakened kitties that happen to cross her path into her heart.
Evidently she didn't.
Okay, so maybe he was a talking cat, but even that hadn't been shocking to her as much as it was just surprising. The idea of a talking cat just didn't seem all that weird on this train. But other than that he had seemed like such a normal cute cat, and Tony had given him to her, so surely it must've been alright!
But here Madoka is now, sitting on her bed and absolutely frozen as she suddenly watches the cat being replaced out of the blue with a person. And while the girl may not be a genius, she understands right away that this boy is the cat. Or the cat is the boy. Whichever way around, it's the same person. And as if that fact wasn't startling enough by itself, there's also the sudden light around his neck and her wrist. It's the light moving closer to her wrist that finally gets her to gasp for air with how surprised she is, and by the time it fades, she instinctively is about to scream at.. well, just about all of this.
Except Madoka is too polite. She knows there's people in the room that she can't wake up, even under these circumstances. So before the scream can escape her mouth, the girl has her hands tightly pressed to said mouth to smother the scream. But she's still so very visibly startled. What is even going on here? Is this dangerous? But the cat had looked so cute only a moment ago!
Her hands shake a little as the girl slowly removes them from her face, managing to only squeak out: "Y.. You're a person..?"
Maru watched the girl warily. While her reaction was probably normal, given the circumstances, he worried she was going to scream... But she didn't. She looked afraid, which bothered him. Did he really look that scary? Her hands were shaking and that bothered him as well. He really didn't want to scare her... she'd been so nice...
So he backed up. He moved more toward the end of the bunk to give her space. Then he sat with his legs crossed and slumped forward, looking very tired.
"... Kind of." Maru replied to the question. "I was a cat a second a go." How many people could do that? Clearly he wasn't a normal cat, or a normal person. He looked at her then, heavy lidded eyes raised to meet hers. "... I won't hurt you. But you probably shouldn't have named me.."
Madoka is still sitting there like she's frozen in place, although she does keep staring at him as he moves. She's still just having trouble processing this situation, especially with the very little (read: practically no) explanation she's getting from him. Right, so he was the cat, but.. why? How? Are cat-people just normal where he comes from? She has no idea!
At least she's slowly starting to realise he isn't dangerous. Even before he says he won't hurt her, really. After all, if he did want to hurt her, he already had enough opportunity to do so after Tony handed over the cat to her. And yet he hasn't done a thing - even now he's no longer a cat. He's just sitting there and looking weirdly sleepy.
So while it doesn't take away her surprise, at least it seems to calm the girl down just slightly...
.. until the last part of what he says, that is. Her eyes grow wide all over again, although this time the surprise is joined by something new - a strange mix of guilt and embarrassment.
It's then that Madoka moves on the bed, kneeling on it and bending forward until she's bowing with her forehead pressed down against the bed. Probably way more formal than anyone ought to be to a random cat-person they only just met.
"I'm.. I'm so sorry.." Her voice probably would have been more frantic if she wasn't trying really hard to keep quiet, but the emotion is still kind of audible in her hushed tone. "O-Of course you already have a name, it was so rude of me to just name you like that..! Please forgive me.."
.. She may have taken that just slightly the wrong way.
Ignis was up early as per his custom, and while it had been so damn tempting to just stay in bed together, there was someone else that needed his attention, well their attention really. So instead of waking up his mate, the advisor decided that he would bring him breakfast in bed afterwards.
However, the first order of business was making breakfast for a certain pink haired doll of a daughter and letting her know she didn't need to worry anymore, that things were fixed. And it took strict mental discipline to not keep staring at the ring of gold now permanently back on his left hand.
So once breakfast was started, green eyes detected a slightly disheveled beloved pink head of hair coming towards the kitchen. And Ignis could only smile.
Madoka is very much used to seeing Ignis already at it when she enters the kitchen - despite the fact that Madoka also gets up kind of early. At least it means there's not as many people around when it's still early (the dining carriage can get pretty chaotic with the recent numbers of people on the train, after all) and she doesn't have to look too proper just yet.
Even though she's still sleepily smoothing out her hair with her hands as she enters the kitchen, letting out a slight yawn. Maybe she'd be a tad surprised at him smiling, considering how things have been lately, but it's not quite registering in Madoka's sleepy mind yet.
"Good morning darling." Ignis smiled. Her hair was adorable as it was with being slightly messed up. He caught that yawn too and he set a glass of juice down for her before she even sat. "Yes, breakfast is nearly ready. How did you sleep?"
Of course with him having been up already he had eggs and he'd found bacon in the refrigerator so that was cooked. He'd also made a fresh pan of honey cakes and had the cream cheese icing he'd whipped up with Buttercup. Eggs were present too along with bread for toast. So when Madoka did sit, he gave her a kiss on top of the pink crown of hair and got himself a fresh cup of coffee.
Prompto said 'Ignis, all business' on the battlefield but that also applied to his kitchen too.
"Hmm-mm, I slept fine." She reaches out towards the glass, drinking a little and letting out a deep breath afterwards.. Madoka is slowly starting to look a little bit more awake as she takes in the scent of breakfast.
"Papa, you must've slept well too. You seem in a good mood this morning."
( wei wuxian is hemming and hawwing how gift culture works here, but also: he's got a jealous brother. so this is handled simply:
Madoka finds a plush manatee with a crown and a tiny shirt with Aquafir's logo on it waiting outside her door the morning after they leave Aquafir, with her name on a folded piece of notebook paper, and a smiling face following wei wuxian's signature. )
A day before Tony's network post
Now to find Madoka. He didn't have her routine memorized like he did Peter's and Ignis' but there was only so many place on the train to be, so before long, he found his daughter and as soon as he spotted her, he smiled. In his hand was a pillowcase with obviously something stuffed inside.

A day or two after Tony & Ignis' log

"Are you already making breakfast?"

You seem in a good mood this morning."

gift
Madoka finds a plush manatee with a crown and a tiny shirt with Aquafir's logo on it waiting outside her door the morning after they leave Aquafir, with her name on a folded piece of notebook paper, and a smiling face following wei wuxian's signature. )
